Puppet Playtime August 2024

Puppet Playtime August 2024

Join us for Puppet Playtime!

Puppet Playtime gives children aged 3 to 5 the opportunity to engage in a new experience of storytelling and puppetry. Each session features a popular children’s book, with an acclaimed WA performer presenting the story in their unique performance style.  This can include puppetry, musical accompaniment, object theatre, movement and dance, and more. The world of puppetry is vast, and attendees will learn about a new element of puppetry each month. Each session, children will craft a puppet designed by our talented puppetry professionals.

This month’s feature story is Maybe adapted from a traditional folktale.

About Maybe

When a farmer’s horse runs away, his neighbours call it the worst of news. ‘Maybe,’ says the wise farmer, in what will become the book’s refrain as more unexpected events come his way. This delightful tale teaches that what seems bad might be good; what seems good might be bad; and in the end, all are essential, helpful experiences in our personal journeys of growth.

We celebrate their continuing connection and contribution to culture, country and community, and thank all First Nations peoples for their wisdom in caring for the land, the sky, the rivers and the sea.
