A Show of Hands is the latest creative family activity from the renowned children’s theatre company, designed for ages 4 and up. Celebrating the art of hand puppetry, this exciting new experience is sure to spark joy, laughter, and captivate curious minds and busy little fingers during the holidays. This event marks Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s second year as part of the Perth Royal Show program, since moving its mainstage productions to the Ellie Eaton Theatre at Claremont Showground last year.
Artistic Director, Philip Mitchell described A Show of Hands as a fun exploration of creativity and play, and a delightful addition to the Perth Royal Show experience for families.
“A Show of Hands is a free, feel-good family activity that harnesses the timeless magic of bare-hand puppetry and unleashes curiosity, imagination and joy,” he said. “Share in the magical world of a child’s imagination with this delightful puppet adventure—you may even discover your own hidden puppetry talents!”
A Show of Hands combines film with hands-on puppet play installations, showcasing the creative world of puppetry. After an immersive introductory movie, children will have the chance to practice their newfound hand puppetry skills and embark on sensory-rich adventures through beautifully designed dioramas, from glittering sandy beaches to bustling Sideshow Alley.
Accompanying adults are encouraged to capture and share videos and photos on social media, tagging Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and the Perth Royal Show. Each day, Spare Parts will repost a selection of these moments to celebrate their presence at the 2024 Perth Royal Show.
A Show of Hands will run every day of the Perth Royal Show from September 21 to 28, between 1pm and 5pm.
