13 March, 2026

If you’re a teacher or school coordinator hunting for a standout Perth school excursion in 2026, one that’s affordable, curriculum-linked, and genuinely unforgettable for your students, you’ve just found it.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is thrilled to announce our 2026 Schools Program: two extraordinary in-theatre productions designed specifically for primary school students, packed with learning opportunities, and ready to bring your classroom to life.

Proud to Continue Our Partnership with PLD

We’re delighted to welcome back PLD (Promoting Literacy Development) as our exclusive 2026 Schools Season Partner. PLD’s evidence-based approach to literacy development aligns beautifully with the storytelling and language-rich experiences at the heart of every Spare Parts production. We’re grateful to PLD and founder Diana Rigg for their continued support.

The 2026 Schools Program: Two Shows You Won’t Want to Miss

This year, we’re bringing two very special productions to the stage, each offering a rich, immersive arts experience perfectly suited to primary school audiences.

TERM 2 | Rules of Summer

Adapted from the book by Shaun Tan

📅 29 June – 3 July 2026

An immersive, wordless puppetry experience about the unspoken rules of friendship — and what happens when you break them.

Puppetry, shadow play and sensory surprises transform the entire theatre into a world where anything can happen.

Perfect for exploring: friendship · resilience · belonging

TERM 4 | The Velveteen Rabbit

Based on the book by Margery Williams

📅 23 November – 4 December 2026

This moving story about a boy and his toy rabbit encourages students to explore love, care, and empathy. Told with warmth and beautiful puppetry, this classic story invites young learners to consider the power of friendship, imagination, and what makes something truly real.

Perfect for exploring: empathy · friendship · imagination
